The final season was definitely a lot stronger than season eight. It didn't hurt that the Sabre story disappeared and Ed Helms' unbearable Andy was absent for half the season. It would have been even better if his character had simply been lost at sea for good with no one seeming to notice or care.
With the show's usual attention to detail, I'm surprised they didn't work with WWE to make a humorous future version of his merchandise in an even more garish color scheme than usual.

He's been wrestling full time for WWE since 2002 which has put a ton of stress on his body so they appear to be quietly shifting him to more of a "legend in the wings" role ala Shawn Michaels from 2002-2010 where he can wrestle a reduced schedule and extend the remainder of his career.
