Top tier VC firms actually turned Theranos down because they didn’t think they had the science. The second tier VC firms desperate to get into the game invested without as much research. I don’t feel sorry for them
Good ol’ Mark-to-Make-Believe paper assets; can’t spend it but you can borrow money with it.
“making her the first self-made female billionaire”? Oprah (of Oprah fame) and Doris Fisher (GAP founder) were billionaire looooong before Elizabeth Holmes. I think you meant “youngest.”
Except she’s probably just a millionaire, missing that last comma. Sad!
I don’t think anyone is walking away rich, just embarrassed.
so you’re saying that Holmes’s blood business isn’t liquid?
honestly becoming a billionaire on the back of absolutely nothing and stealing money from Silicon Valley dumb dumbs is sort of my dream so YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE LIZZIE HOLMES
It’s like when you’re 12 and your mom told you to clean your room before she got home from work. You obviously spend all day not doing it and then spring to frantic action shoving all your crap in your closet the second you hear your garage door open.
They’re all children. They all need help after this.
How does this back an argument against that. The Rio rape involved a victim who didn’t wish to consent, this involved one who for all the perpetrators would know consented but was underage.
why do they need to do jail time? If it was consensual and all the boys are under 18. Or do you think all sex by people under 18 is rape?
As a Brazilian, it’s such a relief to read comments such as these. The world knows the truth. We didn’t want the World Cup; we didn’t want the Olympics; we didn’t want Temer as our president. These are very, VERY dark times for us.
Brazilian here. Although the article is factually correct, I think it would be useful to expand the information a bit, in order to get more context. Since I already sort of did that with my comment in the article about the Italian woman burnt alive by an ex-boyfriend, here it goes:
But hey, the Olympics are coming! Everyone ignore the pollution and corruption and complete lack of justice for the poor! The Olympics!
I’m not hesitant to believe Amber. I do, however, find it kind of dismissive to say “Let’s give Lily-Rose a break. She’s a 17 year old and of course she is going to defend her dad.”
That’s kind of my point. We don’t know. And we have no knowledge. This post kind of assumes we should think Lily doesn’t know as much as we do.
How dare she? I mean, seriously.
YouTube comments are the standard we use to gauge public opinion now? That's like scraping the barrel.
