Being passionate about a character is fine. Taking personal, diatribe-inducing umbrage when your completely made up ‘ship doesn’t pan out does kinda smack of misplaced priorities.

Its totally cool if you or anyone is into that but this type of stuff shouldnt be breaking out of the Rule34/tumblr space. This whole idea of “shipping” as a mainstream concept…

On both one hand, I want to say that these people have far too much time on their hands. On the other, I’ve put WAY too many hours into gaming to make that kind of judgement on anyone.

You’re right that they will likely do it sooner. Keep it low key and quiet and they can pretend its not worth their time or doesn’t exist, but making a show out of it like they’ve done makes the server a target, and sets a precedent if they don’t do anything.

I get these things existing, and while I fully respect blizzard’s stance and right to shut them down I kind of understand leaving them alone if they keep low key. That said I kinda hope Bliz nukes this one hard and fast, just as an object lesson for the hubris of putting such fanfare on it.

It wasn’t more difficult, it was just that the theory crafting community wasn’t there yet. Anyone who thinks rotations of spamming shadow bolt were difficult, or talent trees of “do this or you’re wrong” was interesting, or that the raid bosses hold a candle in complexity* is kidding themselves.

Weaker, perhaps, but more consistent with established rules/mechanics that players are familiar with. I’d consider that a win, and it seems Blizzard agrees.

It’d be nice if Valve didnt pull this complete black out on communication every time Steam is down or when there’s an issue. Do like Blizzard does when one of their games or their client is down and address the users (usually via Twitter)
