Reply All (podcast) just had an episode discussing the tweaks YouTube made that encouraged longer videos. YouTube wants hours of watch time, not numbers of videos watched, and encourages this behavior.

I can agree people ask for it in rude ways, but I would think some level of demand is good for an album.
