The problem isn't that they have a connection to the force; it's that they have a disconnection that's inconsistent with the described nature of the force.

I think there are much better ways of dealing with the fact that jedi are OP; just off the top of my head, maybe some kind of aerosol toxin that prevents them from connecting with the force. Some power that just blocks the force is inconsistent with every description of the force in the Star Wars universe.
