I liked the book(s) quite a bit — this has the same plot and characters, mostly, but it feels like a different thing, probably the atmosphere. It looks pretty cool, there is definitely a 70s vibe to it even though it's set today (and people have smartphones and current music, etc.). Most of the cast are great.

Did you have the interactive CD?

Yes, she was supposed to headline a festival in Ontario this weekend but she's sick.

That guy singer for July Talk sounds like something is wrong in his throat.
Also I would like the Arkells better if all their songs didn't have some lyrics about wanting to get with underage girls.

I read a very thorough biography of SNFU a few years ago. They totally lost money on their US tours.

Royal Canoe.

I didn't know Alvvays are Canadian, cool.

SNFU played a local show the same night the Hip played their last show…might not have been much crossover in the audiences though. (I used to love them, it was an SNFU show that made me realize I was too old for the mosh pit)

When Barbra Streisand announced that, it sounded like she thought the band was The Suburbs and the album was "Arcade Fire".

Is that true? If so, amazing — I'd have no idea because I don't watch football, but you'd think someone would notice there was never a 4th down…

I've seen both those bands several times. I'm not sure what 54-40 is doing in general, but they play the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver every October, and a few years ago we went to their 50th Commodore show (sometimes they played there more than once a year, they have not been together since 1966). At the door they

Yes.

Sundays only.

I only just got into them after seeing them on tour with Hey Rosetta! (who might be a bit niche for US success but are awesome)

"Ballad of Wendel Clark" ftw.

Ha, I never heard of Brave Belt (I'm not really a huge BTO/Guess Who fan, but I like their singles and see/hear Bachman around).

I went to the same junior high school as the singer from Loverboy. 30 years later I saw him accept his lifetime achievement Juno award.

I'm pretty sure "Hasn't Hit Me Yet" is Blue Rodeo, speaking of Canadian bands who aren't big in the US.

Their biggest hit was a cover of a Canadian band, 54-40.

Naked & Famous and Lorde are the only ones of those I've seen.
