I liked Station Eleven too. Maybe too short…I can't decide if it needed more or if that would have diluted it.

Except for the uplifting part (and, for my taste anyway, the 'good' part), I'd agree with that. It's more downdropping than uplifting.

Newman is great — there are *so many* literary and other references in the Anno Dracula books. Not all the sequels are as good though.

The Sparrow squicked me pretty hard. I certainly won't re-read it.

Nowadays the VR tech is almost good enough to do it in real life, too.

I don't know if I'd quite go that far but it was definitely more quantity than quality. If it sounds from the review like you would like it, then you probably will.

Divine was a man??

Are you kidding? Did you not see her in Grumpy Cat's Christmas??

FX-Men.

Well not anymore </spoilers>.

I hope the whole fight is in pitch black, using the lessons she learned while blind.

Huh, really? On what station? I'm pretty sure I've heard "One Gun" and "I Go Blind" more. (unless that was the Hootie and the Blowfish version…)

They got their name from a Michael Nesmith sketch that was on Elephant Parts (and also aired on SNL). I don't know if that's where Elvis Costello got the phrase from.

Great book — my copy is autographed.

OMG, we named our daughter after a Rheostatics song (and I liked them before they opened for the Hip).

She likes transgressive rhyme, it will never work out.

Everyone called it even before the mother's maiden name bit.
Although in the finale I thought I heard Barry say that *his* mother's maiden name was Garrick.

Shows about time travel should be reviewed way before they actually air.

Only 1000 Maniacs? What happened to the other 9000 Maniacs?

I've seen them there a few times and I don't know if they were selling out the venues but they were certainly pretty full — Deer Lake Park and the Coliseum. I guess everyone in the audience could have been from out of town or just attending for the opening bands…
