I’m sad that the school invited a speaker who is utterly unqualified for her position, thinks HBCU is a great example of “school choice,” and wants to destroy public education. If anyone ruined the commencement, it’s whoever was responsible for her speaking at the ceremony.

I believe the president of the university argued that we all need to learn to hear dissenting opinions and respond to them. But that’s the purpose of a commencement speech. if you want to expose your students to differing opinions, bring her in for a roundtable or debate with the student body.
