There’s a difference between satire and straight up bigotry. That’s why you see stuff in GTA (and Red Dead) mocking racists but not black people as a race. This stuff crossed from satire to bigotry and it’s good Rockstar realized it. I don’t expect gamers to understand that or react sanely to these changes.

Being a cop isn’t even in the Top 20 most-dangerous jobs in the United States.

It’s about punching down, and if there was at least one trans writer we knew of in the team to make sure that any jokes or criticism of anything trans has at least some representation and lived experience behind it, it’d be a very different story. You can have gritty, cynical humor without being an asshole to people

Perhaps one that won’t continue to demean people that are most at-risk of being murdered?

We do assign value to human creativity, it’s called the art market. The unreconcilable difference between NFTs and the art market is that I actually get ownership of the work of art, be it a painting, print, sculpture, whatever. If it is unique, only I have the original. An NFT isn’t even you acquiring ownership

I’m glad this is the top comment because it has all the classic trademarks of a closet bigot:

His last FIVE specials had derogatory comments about the LGTB community. Why is he so focused on that subject when there is an INFINITE amount of other things to “joke” about.

The ‘F’ in TERF is fake. They’re not feminists, they’re sex essentialists that boil women down to genitals and ability to give birth, and they align with neo-Nazis and the far right in general. They’re happy to let ‘genital inspectors’ molest young girls to ‘make sure’. They’re happy to throw gender non-conforming

Is it because he claimed to be team TERF? How is that harmful to you or anyone else?

Except some of the topics don’t fall into the category of “I disagree because that’s my opinion”.  Trans people ARE people.  Trans people deserve protection from those that would do them harm.  Trans people deserve the rights afforded to them.  To stand against this is to stand against basic human rights.  That’s not

Sorry, but... what?

“He never once misgendered her.”

The crazy thing is that he's not EVEN team TERF cuz the F is for Feminist and dude has repeatedly shamed women comics for quitting comedy over Louis CK's dick. He is not at all a fucking F.

Okay, let’s break this down:

It’s at times like these that I am reminded of how Daniel Tosh took time out of an episode of his show to blast Shane Gillis for whining about cancel culture. A fucking dedicated shock comic whose comedy persona is based around being a narcissistic sociopath is able to get that comedy has to evolve.

Why would anyone want to watch something where they know they or their friends might be insulted. We don't have to "just give it a chance". When I hear how horrible trusted friends think something is, my first thought isn't "I should give it a chance".

It’s mindblowing that a guy who quit his show because he felt the audience was laughing with the racism and not at it has now thrown in his lot exclusively with the people that drove him to quit in the first place.

That he quit as one of the most celebrated comics of his era, and returned to comedy as generic boomer

By explicitly calling himself "Team TERF," he allies with anti-trans bigots that want to AND DO inflict not just emotional violence, but PHYSICAL VIOLENCE against people simply trying to live their lives.

I remember this so hard. I remember Morimoto’s reaction and hated on Flay for a decade over it.

I’ll be honest, that moment seriously damaged my opinion of him. It also didn’t help that frankly he wasn’t capable of producing in that environment and spent most of both matches whining. The rest of his Food Network output just solidified the opinions.

My girlfriend hasn’t liked Bobby Flay since he jumped up onto his cutting board on the original Iron Chef. I’ve told her it’s a long time to hold a grudge, but, well, she’s pretty stubborn.
