The montage of Klaus’ journey was really great. I like that the rich lady who took him in became one of his followers on the bus ride to Mexico and then during his stay in India. Explains how he got his cult funded.

Not asking makes sense for the Umbrella kids. They are all adopted and are used to being physically very different from each other and their parents.

Here’s even more of a spoiler. It is never addressed or alluded to. If you need a nail to hang your hat on, Lila is a little crazy, and this is just an affectation for no reason. Because even her parents had an Indian British accent.  Not her Sloanie one.

Sort of Spoliers for the rest of the season but not really

Alison kicking off her shoes and jumping in the pool fully clothed to hug Klaus was adorable. I really like how this season isn’t shying away from how the two of them reckon with the racism/homophobia they’d obviously face sixty years in the past.

Five on Diego: “Imagine Batman, then aim lower.”

I have to admire Allison’s discipline. If it’d been me, I would’ve been spreading rumors all over the place.

Klaus’s 2nd interaction with Allison’s husband was hilarious.  “Family barbecues are about to get really weird!”

Luther apologizing to Vanya and then just leaving felt particularly frustrating

I’m just glad Luther apologized to Vanya for what he did. A little self-realization helps but I imagine a bigger gesture is in order.

That was a “possible” timeline, no? (One in which he only arrived at the last minute, in fact.)

It is an incredibly minimal piece of information that does not give away anything about what happens.

Am I the only one who was confused in the premiere at the siblings fighting the army together when Five shows up? When ten days earlier they were all on completely different paths? How did they all come together in the original timeline before Five showed up?

I agree that the biggest issues with the show last season were plotting and pacing, but I don’t agree that the cast was universally strong. Or at least their strength did not shine through in their characters. Vanya, Allison and Luther were dull as dirt, whereas Claus and Diego were dripping with charisma, and Five

I’m a slow binge-watcher myself - two per day for this show - so thanks for the daily reviews, Caroline.

Probably because Doom Patrol was only on the DC streaming service, where UA was on the vastly more popular Netflix.

Probably for the best as whereas before that last 1/4 would have rather pissed you off, now you can just go directly into Season 2.

When Five finally arrives on November 25, 1963, he finds a timeline where JFK has declared “war on the Reds” and Soviet forces are attacking the streets of Dallas.

what it didn’t have going for it was a particularly strong grasp on plot and pacing.”

Halfway through the season (don’t worry, no spoilers) and so far the pacing and plotting hold up. It often feels like I’ve only been watching for minutes not hours unlike the sometimes-slog of season one.
