The whole running gag around Return Of The Mack was really great and exactly the kind of thing this show excels at. I could watch Dahrk kick ass to that song all day

If they were the Time Bureau they would’ve just memory wiped kid Ray rather than killing him. That definitely wasn’t them
I like rips chainsaw analogy though as a way of describing the legends effectiveness
I’m surprised he didn’t leave Agent Sharp or some other Time Bureau member to supervise them
This version of asshole Rip is better though because you kind of get where he’s coming from, whereas in season 1 he created this team and then got whiny when they didn’t do things his way
How far did you get in the series? After Vile Village the formula is totally shaken up
This episode is funnier than I remember upon rewatch. The graveyard scene is amazing and the stuff with the Five Families is great. Some stuff just doesn’t work though, like Micheal’s date with the landlady is uncomfortable in all the wrong ways and doesn’t get any laughs
The next episode after this one is even better on binge. The entire “kidnapping” subplot is absoultely hysterical
I love that that is apparently a part of Micheal’s script for the encounter and not just a random comment
I like that bit because you can see Micheal almost being an effective serious boss here, but he just can’t resist pulling out a “That’s what she said” even when he knows it’s not the time for it
The scene with Esme at the end is the most genuinely intense I’ve seen this show all season. Lucy Punch is completely unhinged in this scene and the staging of it, with Violet and Esme in a game of cat and mouse and the obstacles for Esme being pushed over very violently, is brilliant. The cat-and-mouse chase aspect…
The fire drill opening is my favorite cold open and Safety Training is my favorite episode
They kept the library motif up pretty well in the previous episodes too... suprised they didn’t even show a library in the bit where the kids are searching the rooms. I feel like if somebody had pointed this out to the writers it would’ve been in there, strange it was forgotten
I think Jerome just didn’t get enough time with the Baudelaires to feel developed, which was a byproduct of introducing Gunther so early on the story rather than a bit further in like in the book
I find the VFD subplot to be an excellent parallel to Olaf’s scheming. Both Olaf and the VFD operate in ways that are ludicrously overcomplicated and, despite their determination and focus, ultimately end up being rather unsuccessful and incompetent. It ties into the theme of these adults who think they know what…
Ive seen some people mention her on here but Kitana Turnbull is absolutely hilarious as Carmleita Spats. I didn’t remember her from the books at all, pretty sure she was just kind of a generic bully there, but here she steals every scene she’s in. I even looked up the actress afterwards and she doesn’t have all that…
Ryan was seriously one of the best and most realistic characters in the shows early years. His understated, calm but nervous straight-man performance is a highlight of the earlier seasons, and it makes it all the more disappointing how his character is ruined in the later seasons
Yah when I saw the episode I assumed he was just going to tell her that he was transferring. That’s what was set up in the scene with Jan earlier and logically that’s what would’ve made sense to do at the time. The fact that he confesses his feelings instead is part of the great bait-and-switch
Is referring to African-Americans as “blacks” a bad thing? It always seemed condescending to me, but nobody seems to have any concise stance on it. Even the author of this article refers to them as “blacks”
So many people complain about bad Gamestop experiences, but it seems like most of the time it’s just terrible employees. I live like 10 minutes away from gamestop headquarters, and I’ve never seen any of the employees at my local store do anything shady, in fact they’re some of the nicest employees I’ve seen in retail
