An interesting article as usual. For a quick update: though we have no big landmark cases or the like, tattooing in Taiwan....is still roughly as taboo as it was a year ago when I last typed about the subject. Though there is probably at least a slightly improvement in social awareness and acceptability of tattoo

Hah! I disliked Konami before it was cool.

You too? I have no idea, I’m suspecting F4SE or something very deeply-rooted.

One day, all USB ports will be USB-C (or we’ll all be dead, it’s a coin flip).

Fun* historical factoid: Stalingrad was given the noncontroversial name Volgograd (after the river, Tsaritsyn was named after the Tsar respectively) in 1961 by the Soviet government as part of a multi-year nationwide “Destalinization” campaign removing many of the signs of his personality cult (geographic names,

I would’ve preferred Tomb Raider III, but this is pretty great too...would really like to play it when finished, it looks like a more polished version of Tomb Raider Anniversary.

I actually prefer that the controllers use AA batteries (I supply my own own, specifically Eneloop rechargeable), because of their availability, how fast it is to replace them, and how infuriating it is to have to toss a controller because the integrated battery isn’t any good anymore, but I wouldn’t mind if MS sold

I’m not in the market for an XB1s (especially after MS at Gamescon), and I don’t even particularly like Minecraft (every time I try to get into it, I dig a mine shaft under a village, try and find diamond, and then give up). But hot damn, I really want to buy that thing.

While I never just sent friend requests to everyone I played with, in the early days of XBL I did send them to a few people I worked with well or communicated verbally with—that’s how I made my first few friends in MechAssault. I still do it today, admittedly infrequently, but it wasn’t like I was just pouring them

That’s a shockingly good Mercy. It seems to be one of the harder human-looking Overwatch cosplays.

It took some time to realize it, but I came to understand that Final Fantasy VII being my own favorite in the series (over the others I played, mostly VI, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XIII and now XV) didn’t come from gameplay (which isn’t perfect by any means, though I do prefer the materia system and ATB to some alternatives),

Yeah, this is weird...I played through the whole thing on XB1, and was apparently spared, but a lot of people weren’t. :( Likewise, the PS4 had terrible input lag issues (not Prey bad, but bad), and Square-Enix said a fix went out, but some people are still complaining it’s unacceptable.

As a Taiwanese national, I feel a little obligated to point out a few things:

I too wasted an undue portion of my childhood with Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn, but is this really that newsworthy (kotakuworthy)? I thought there were literally dozens (if not hundreds) of complete and incomplete mods trying to add new factions to the game, either to the existing unit roster or as part of a total

Apparently this monitor has more than its share of issues—check XerBlade’s comments above. Glad I didn’t settle with it.

Wow, that’s pretty eye-opening, I could’ve sworn it was HDCP 2.2 compatible (my LG is). That’s a pretty serious deal-breaker. Didn’t know about the latency issues either, I guess I’m lucky I switched out of it.

Having attempted both, this worth noting: with a GTX 1080, you are not going to get anywhere near consistent 120 FPS at 1440p (or even 1080p), even excluding games that start to behave abnormally over 60 FPS (looking at you, Bethesda). You’ll be lucky if you get consistent 100 FPS. Personally, I found the jumping from

I used this exact monitor before switching over to the LG 27UD68—while I prefer the LG, this is a very respectable monitor with a very nice TN panel in terms of colors (though I prefer IPS myself, plenty of people feel differently). It also comes with FreeSync, for people with modern AMD cards, which is a pretty great

I’ve owned a Vizio M-class (65 inch—which is bigger than I wanted, but it was the best deal to be found), have since Cyber Monday year before last. Very, very happy with it, even with its lack of HDR (the black quality and adaptive lighting goes a long way towards helping that).
