I saw like 15 david lynch scenes in that episode, basically all of crazy bike cop parts are from lost highway/mulholland drive. I half expected him to randomly walk around a corner, see the trash monster and die.
Everything has to be destroyed and in order to be saved, those trapped following the old way keep dying.
But look at this scene! (Spoilers) https://youtu.be/GVDOFfDssxE .. This is Spike Lee at his top form
This is the best inner city movie of them all, that ending sequence of Harvey Keitel walking the kid thru the testimony might be Spike Lees pinnacle sequence(and the score behind it is amazing).
By not taking into account the limitations of being a sprawling mythological drama on network television in the mid to late 00s your clouding your vision on the rewatch. Constant still might be one of the greatest moments of the medium. He can develop characters when few have shown they can.
Unpopular thought for AVClub. I like the leftovers and thought it was must see tv.
I actually think Singles is better than Almost Famous, rewatch it. I feel it holds up amazingly well and the characters are still relevant (ie hipsters).
This was a lousy movie, with SOMEWHAT of a story at least. I think maybe being in middle school when this came out I liked it a lot more than I should. It obviously does not hold up, but man did it ever make us all want to work at a record store. I will however say that subUrbia by Richard Linklater killed the slacker…
I am at the point where I imagine Kenan as this old grandpa who is allowed to take part "because".
Man Listler joining the crew, can this cast get anymore bad ass?
