Aren’t combat medics just soldiers with medical equipment and medical training? If you wear the Red Cross symbol you’re not allowed to attack anyone, even less fight for a specific side. It speaks for itself they are not allowed to wear a “Do not attack”-symbol.

The red cross symbol means “Medical Area! DO NOT ATTACK! KEEP US SAFE! WE ARE NOT ENEMY!”.
