It makes sense on a continent with the Abarth, Twingo Cup, Up! GTi, and at least some PSA counterpart I can’t name off the top of my head.

You just don’t get it. Miata guy and I do tho.
But this thing can actually accelerate very early in a corner and doesnt have to wait for the road to compleatly streighten out to give it the beans
I would buy the f**k out of this thing if it were available in the states, and I’m not just blowing smoke. This is the sort of fun car I could easily justify.
Man, I hope Toyota brings some of this Gazoo goodness here. What a great little car this could be. It may be a bit pricey, but this could help light a fire under Mazda’s ass to give us another ‘Speed3.
Because We (America) are winning
One thing we need to remember is that cars are way more expensive in Europe in general. That car would be about $26k here. Still a lot for a Yaris, but they basically built a better Abarth.
What is awesome about car prices is GBP = USD. A GTI is approx $30,000 in the US and £30,000 in UK.
The first thing everyone should know is that simple currency conversions are not good indicators of how much a car would sell in the United States.
I swear upon the lives of my entire family, I would buy this car if it came to the NA market.
I want it. I REALLY want it.
The argument I would get (when I still bothered to argue with people) was that, even though my Honda was built in Ohio and has a lot of American sourced parts, it doesn’t count because “the profits go to the motherland”. Trying to explain that the factory employs a bunch of people in Ohio, as well as the people in the…
I’ve had this argument a bunch of times with people and it’s so convoluted that I think it’s best to ignore brand origins and corporate profits and simply focus on what employs the most amount of American workers. Those are paychecks going into the US economy and driving our unemployment rate and thus I brand that as…
Clearly you need an old Lada. a) Environmentally friendly (older car, production footprint amortized over a longer time and b) made by the biggest union ever, the Soviet Union
I’m very disheartened by how many commenters don’t realize how videos (or humor) work.
“You want us to derate our engine?”
man, I’ll take a linear but lesser slope HP curve any day over a fat midrange and nothing on the top in a sportcar.
So they added revs....cool! I like revs. A time honored HP adding tradition.
