Yep. Clearly both of those cars have quite a bit of money into them. A bolt in cage, or even a custom welded cage, isn’t that expensive in the grand scheme of what’s probably been spent on the cars. Especially when the money being thrown around for that street race is enough to cover the cost of caging either car.

High school is one thing, you’re young and dumb then. Not an excuse, but it’s more understandable. None of the guys in that video appeared to be in high school. If you’re an adult and still making those decisions, yeah you’re fucking stupid. Especially if you’ve got $1,600 to bet on a race, but can’t be bothered to

Let me put it this way, I cared more to make my point than worrying about possibly offending a journalist as a relatively anonymous internet commenter. I’m sorry if that was a result, but his article served to make the point I was trying to. So I couldn’t have posted it on just “any other the other random fluff

I understand both sides of that. Being a car enthusiast isn’t cheap, and if you’re going to be tracking/autocrossing a car it often makes sense to buy used vs new. I bought my FR-S used from a dealership because it fit my budget. Part of me wishes I’d bought it new to support that system, but I’m at where I’m at. I’m

I went to Ho Chi Minh last year, and am planning to go to Da Nang next year. Might as well keep working my way north and hit Hanoi in 2020! haha

They’re partly to blame, but as I’ve said several times the readers and commenters are primarily to blame, as what they click on dictates what kinds of articles and subjects get posted about.

100% in to travel to Vietnam for this race. Such an interesting place to visit.

Have I? Yes. Am I? Nope. I can certainly see how it’d come across that way, but the reality is that the passion/emotion I might convey in my posts doesn’t really permeate into my life beyond that moment.

Well they did reboot the FJ-40, but they had an extensive enough truck lineup that they were able to largely draw from those parts bins. They didn’t really have anything in their modern lineup to pull from for Supra development, and it seems that the reality of getting niche sports cars made these days (especially

Completely agree with ya on that.

My attitude is directed more at the general commenting populous on here, other automotive news sites, FB groups, and forums. I don’t fully blame the journalists, the clicks pay the bills and people love to click on these articles. It makes business sense for them to post these.

Well, I’ve got some bad news for you, and other people who hold that opinion, this is the new reality of niche enthusiast cars. The trends in the market are making it far less likely for the bean counters to sign off on development of new sports car models that won’t sell in large volumes. The sort of partnerships are

If you read my response to Bozi’s reply to me I do admit that my comment isn’t actually directed at him, and even apologize for him being somewhat collateral damage. My point was more to the fact that two Supra articles were posted on Jalopnik within less than an hour, both discussing information that was previously

I don’t disagree that that’s perhaps a better model, but hardly the standard in the auto industry. ~4 years from concept to production really isn’t that bad for a sports car. Like you said, the constant articles just make it feel like it was longer.

Okay, well a mid-engine Corvette has been rumored, teased, and shown in prototype forms since before the 60s, and yet the tone around it is very different. I think the reason is just because people love to hate Toyota.

I genuinely like this sort of information. It’s a good article. Sorry, you were somewhat of collateral damage in this. As I said above, the readers are more to blame than anything. My comment was directed more at the attitude toward news around the Supra as a whole. People in the comments bitching about how this has

I’m still hyped for this car, and based on the first drive reviews it sounds like it’s actually going to be an amazing car. I just get annoyed by all the people whining about how it’s taken too long, saying they’re already bored with it, and hating on Toyota for it. The company is putting out a new sports car, one

Two Supra articles within less than an hour of each other, both giving information that is pretty much already known (though perhaps not in as much detail) and discussing topics that could possibly have been covered in a single article. This is why the whole process feels so drawn out. It’s not Toyota’s fault people,

I get that they get paid by clicks, and it’s a business. But publishing every single rumor, spy shot, and speculative piece you can, only to turn around and make a post about how the manufacturer has teased too much of it is a bit ridiculous. Particularly when the manufacturer was not a source for the vast majority of
