Say what you want about Hitler, but at least he killed Hitler.

1st Gear: I can’t help but feel like the affordable Tesla is bait and switch vaporware. Musk has been promising a reasonably priced Tesla is coming in the near future pretty much since he bought Tesla, and we’re still not really any closer to it.

It’s this - the FMVSS.

I just bought a GR86. I built it online in November, the local dealer called the next day about getting me on the first allocation Dec. 1, they ordered what I wanted, told me 12-16 weeks, and it got here in 6. Including a 20-minute drive or so, the whole buying process was 1.5 hrs. No markups, just some minor

These are not hardcore Jalop answers, but for an average daily driver car:  1) tinted windows, 2) aftermarket speaker upgrades, 3) a hitch receiver

add a tune, problem solved

I don’t know a mass market turbo 4 or 6 that doesn’t start to lose steam after 5k rpms. The flip side is they all pull like a tractor from a stop. So win some lose some?

I’m still not sure it’s the car for me. But it’s now at least part of the conversation.

Always a good car wash before a road trip. A clean car is a happy car and a happy car is a reliable car.

That’s just common sense.

never own a chrysler product.

is that a superstition or just good judgement?

The starting point is an SI and presumably some interior refinements and maybe some performance upgrades as well. And that’s a good starting point. Where it goes from there, which is likely a Type S with SH-AWD could be more interesting... if they can keep the price reasonable. It could slot in between the SI and the

Speaking the truth. I wish the design was a little more daring but none the less. Im still interested. MAybe an Integra A-Spec.

If this thing ends up being a Civic Si with an Acura interior and ride, I’ll be perfectly happy with that.

exactly.. a small (by todays standards) 6 speed manual, lift/hatch back that will probably handle well, be good in the winter (especially with snow tires) and probably get decent MPGs. Seems like a solid daily driver w/a bit of fun on the side + Honda quality. Sounds good to me.

I really hope they give it a little bit more power than the SI. 220hp would do. That with a sharper front end, great manual and a styling that does not scream boy racer, I think I would consider it when it is time to replace my mk7.5 GTI.

sooooooo. i have been wanting a freaking SI hatchback, i think THIS is it. if its like 30-31 with the manual and those nice brakes. i might just be buying one

More automakers should let you option a limited-slip diff on FWD cars.

mmmm, so that’s who’s driving the modern Maseratis. I had been wondering

Or just slap the Hondata tune in there, for $600 get a power curve that looks like a stock GTI’s and all of the drivability improvements (no speed limiter, no rev hang, no-lift shift etc.)
