I liken it to this: American automakers design things on the premise that it will break, so replaceability is valued over performance.
For me its that Americans have “make it work” engineering, Germans have “complicated” engineering, but Japanese cars are usually “crazy simple yet works” engineering.
That could also be part of the flipping game on the owners part to cash in on the boom.
the grand cherokee, durango and X5 are also unibody crossovers and not “true” suvs like the 4runner or expedition or tahoe
False, true SUVs are built on truck chassis, are BOF, or both.
“optimized driver DYNAMICS”
To be fair the hybrid RAV4 is fairly unique in the marketplace. There is no other hybrid AWD CUV on the market at that price point.
Yep. I know. Added that in to my replies to the others who pointed it out. Thanks.
Yeah - good call - a Mazda6 was my number one on the consolation list, and the incentives on it are awesome right now. But I’m tall and eat up all the back seat legroom. The Accord really is a limousine compared to everything else.
I have wanted a Gen4 Supra since “The Fast and the Furious” came out. Back then, you could get a used base model for fairly cheap, but being a college student, all I had the money for was a $1000 Mitsubishi beater.
I’m convinced Putin is behind this whole thing as a gambit to try and save his puppet from being removed from office.
Taxes on displacement mostly. Same with performance. The RB is a better engine (Sportier) than the VG. Its also because of different markets.
I’m 6'6" and weigh about 290 pounds. I don’t fit in much; my F250 was probably the best. My biggest problem, with cars AND general health, is that I’m at least 40 pounds overweight and probably more like 60, so my feet hurt and seats always end up collapsed under my big fat ass.
One of my college boyfriends was 7'2" tall. He could drive my ‘84 Jetta GLI, but only barely (size 19 feet!), and it was funny as hell to see him in it. For his height, he had relatively short legs, and was not THAT thin so from a distance he didn’t look outrageously tall. But once up close... He could rest his chin…
Seems plausible. Carl Ichan (billionaire hedge fund manager and Trump supporter) sold all his positions in companies that rely on low steel prices a couple days before the steel tariff announcement.
Not refuting your point, but during economic downturns, luxury goods/services rarely suffer to the same degree as the stuff for us “commoners”
You know when you see video of an animal shelter and everything is sad and it almost makes your eyes misty and you whisper, “I wish that I could take all of you home with meeeeeee”?
