I would say that generally when I’ve heard the tiresome “humanist” shit it’s from women, and the “all lives matter” thing I’ve only ever heard of white people saying, which makes it harder to attribute any positive explanation to the latter. They’re both gross bullshit, obviously.

My dad’s Jamaican, and many visits to the island when I was younger when I couldn’t make out what people were saying to me, “I don’t know what you said. Can you repeat that.” And they would laugh it off (and at me) and repeat what they said with less slang or slower.

I listen to K-pop and lots of other foreign language music, but I’ve never had the urge to freak out because I don’t understand what they’re saying and they’re speaking a whole other language.
