Acting on the assumption that this was a racist act was the right thing to do over the weekend. Investigating the situation was the right thing to do. Taking this as an opportunity to consider how we can improve is the right thing to do.

A non slip loop knot is a better hold, lets you put the loop exactly where you want it, and doesn’t leave the end of the rope dangling below the loop.

Nobody has ever known.

I’m just not a person who thinks about racism. Maybe if everyone thought that way there wouldn’t be a problem. Everyone would you know, think everyone is equal. Except pedophiles.

I’ve tied a noose a few times as a kid. ‘Pretty sure it didn’t mean anything then. Pretty sure you’re an judgmental....

I’m not excusing racists for being racist but thanks for playing. I’m also not American but I live here and I know from having traveled extensively that it’s actually not the only country or culture that’s guilty of plenty of racism. Which is not to say that it’s not problematic here by any means. I also think that

Most people wouldn’t know it’s something racist because racism isn’t something that most people think about all the time. I don’t go looking for stuff that might be considered racist, I go about my day without thinking racism at all. I’m not gonna start looking for stuff that might hurt someone’s feelings either.

I would probably walk right by that and think nothing of it because, get this, it’s just a pull rope. I’ve seen plenty of very similar knots used for pull ropes on garage doors, trailer doors, pull-down attic steps, etc. and I’m pretty sure none of those knots were tied with any ill intent. They’re good for dragging

Thats a simple slip knot.....deff not good for a garage pull.

this should really be an example on the importance of diversity.

Pretentious judgmentalism is just another form of prejudice with as long a history as racism. ... And just as stupid.

I’ve tied a noose a few times as a kid. ‘Pretty sure it didn’t mean anything then. Pretty sure you’re an judgmental....

Actually you do...or at least bored kids did when I was a kid. Not for a merit badge but when you learn knots that’s one of them and goofy boys found it fun to try to tie the noose knot just to impress themselves and their buddies.

I’m not even a NASCAR fan but really, there aren’t all that many NASCAR races held at that track, so it’s not as if there was a huge amount of opportunity for people to notice it. Yes, someone put it there and it’s troubling for sure. But I do expect it was almost entirely overlooked until noticed when Wallace’s crew

So, then

Amongst your successive racist genocides of the English language, I got that everything (comma) is racist and... yes

I think we all know the answer.

Erik is just a fucking sandbag that needs to be pounded. “the economy sucks and we havent increased wages”....*two seconds later*.....“dont buy shitty US things when you can get the same thing made from someone foreign thats not as good for half the cost & shipped right to your door in an hour”....two seconds later*

Use the Gizmodo Media Group affiliate link too, thx.

Anyway, “buy American” has a deeply racist past and using that as a guiding principle to buy, well, anything seems kind of strange when “buy local” or “buy union-made” are just sitting right there.
