The cold opens are generally tedious, the monologues are generally a delight, the desk pieces tend to be strong, and the interviews depend on the quality of the guest. When he ignores the cards and just has a natural conversation, it sings.

He’s usually got a good take on current events/news so I’ll try to catch the monologue or first 30 mins a few times a week.  Far, far better than Kimmel or Fallon.

Colbert’s monologues and takes on politics are great, unfortunately too much of the show is taken up with celebrity interviews, just skip those and watch the other stuff.

It is significantly better. He was so neutral at the outset, worried about being attacked for being so outspoken. At some point he decided to just go after Trump, so he abandoned his caution, and now he is much more authentic.

I’ve found most of Trevor’s delivery to land, and he generally has pretty insightful, funny takes on otherwise alarming pieces of news. His team of correspondents, however, is filled with awful personas that are just grating to listen to. Ever since Klepper and Minhaj left, it’s been slim pickings.

We are all very impressed with your edginess.

This comment perfectly sums up why I hate my BIL. Except for the name, this is 100% him. He once told me that he didn’t tip a server because he ordered a dish with cheese in it (he doesn’t like cheese), not realizing that one of the ingredients listed on the menu was cheese...and this was the server’s fault because

HERE, HERE!!!! I loath tipping culture. I want it to end, but there is no end in sight! So I also tip plenty.

Steal pennies out of the penny jar. Lifehack!

I despise the entire system of tipping and would love for it to end. As it stands now, tipping is nothing more than rich people exploiting their lower and middle class customers to help directly pay their lower and middle class employees, all so that they can pocket and hoard even more of the wealth they aren’t

Also, WE ALL WALK AROUND WITH CALCULATORS IN OUR POCKETS NOW. No shame in getting out a calculator to leave a fair tip, if math ain’t your bag.

There’s going to be a hundred comments about why you shouldn’t tip or why it should only be X% instead of Y%.

Call me pedantic, but when I hear the phrase "trick to help you save money", I don't think "by not giving other people money" really counts. How about not going out to eat twice a week? JFC.

I wonder how they got the $400 number? To “save” that much you’d have to be spending $20k eating out and if you’re doing that and sweating $400, you’ve got a lot of skewed priorities.

You're a fucking jerk.

But we currently inhabit the world where servers and other folks are not paid a decent wage, so...tip.

20% is minimum.

Worse still, this screws servers in other, lower-tax states even more.

What kills me is that 20% is such easy math. 1 for every 5 dollars. Round up if you’re between. Literally count on your fingers. Doubling your tax isn’t easier than going “5, 10, 15, 20, 25 - 5 dollars!”

So Zack can afford to spend $10,400 a year on eating at restaurants but absolutely has to save $400 on the back of people making $3 an hour and having to put up with the Zacks of New York? FUCK YOU ZACK.
