When I was in grad school for theater 30 years ago (!!), there were exactly two Black women in the program. The other woman came to me one day and said that this white woman had asked her if she was there on a scholarship, because in whichever Dakota she was from they had special scholarships for “Indians and Negroes.”

I’m sure bullying (or raping, molesting, assaulting) staff has never been a problem with the royal family.  Oh wait...

As if this mess wasn’t enough, I saw somewhere (maybe Twitter maybe Edge’s home page at work I don’t remember exactly where) that there’s goign to be an “investigation” into the “bullying.”

You mean the people who bullied Sarah Ferguson are snobs who also turn out to be racists? This is my shocked face.

I don’t know, those reactions, shaking and crying, still sound pretty white woman-ish, to me. Exactly the sort of behavior that people engage in, after they’ve displayed several racist micro (and sometimes, macro) agressions, towards a Black woman, who has then put them in their place. I know I’ve encountered that

I’m guessing the overlap between people who think Africa is a country, people who think Europe is a country, and people who seriously wonder aloud why there’s no White History Month is a perfect circle.

“Imagine the outrage if it had said “be less Black”!!!”

Oh you’re right that would never happen. Hang on real quick, gotta see what this “Professional Hair in the Workplace” e-mail is all about

I blurted that out pretty quick but now that I’m thinking about it, I really do wish there was a pole shift in the parties similar to what happened back during Civil Rights. That was fueled by social change, and I think the time we’re living in calls for another change. The “big tent” of the Democrats doesn’t work and

I never called for single party rule. I don’t want that. Never implied it.

Truth be told Damon, your post makes me tear up a little for all the fine sneakers we have lost over the years.

I miss cheese grits though I had a very delightfully vibrant grilled tomato for breakfast along with some Smoked Salmon Pastrami from Trader Joe’s because that’s the mood I was in today ;-)

I want to hear more about the 12yr old questioning your style decisions.

You have to search for it on YouTube but Mike Judge’s Tales from the Tourbus does a fantastic job on Betty Davis’ career.

There’s an ideological divide between the parties that explains it. The party is over 80% white, and not even trying to pretend they’re inclusive. In fact, the POC that join the GOP are the types that change their ethnic names and downplay their culture rather than celebrate it. Everyone has to assimilate. Add in

“This is the way”

The picture just looks like they’re all laughing at her.
