I hope so. My original comment still hasn’t been approved and probably never will be. Stuck in the ‘grays’.

This right here, folks. There is no amount of apologizing and moving on that cancel culture warriors will accept. Half the people will be mad you apologized and half the people will say your apology is not good enough.

Hi Michael. I have a question. One that I have answered for myself, but would love to hear from you (or anyone else for that matter). Using non-religious, or potentially subjective moral terms, why would a sizable group of people who have benefited from the past 400 years of systemic racism want to change? Or in other

Yes, that seems to be the complicated part that the author isn’t fully grappling with.  The AV Club and its network of sites aren’t great at having a nuanced discussion when someone explains why they don’t think something they’ve said is offensive.

I agree, but he’s not defending people getting fired or losing opportunities based on things that haven’t “aged well,” and I imagine if someone were to suggest that he lose those things because there were homophobic jokes in a film he wrote from 2007, he’d have a problem with that.

This is what happens when 1 minority group tries to gain exclusive access to improved conditions. The BLM movement has gone to great pains to make sure that no other group could protest ill treatment or discrimination they also experienced. This devolved into one minority group trying to step on the others to improve

Donates $200,000 to racial justice organizations, donates $1,000 to her sister’s campaign. It’s pretty clear where their priorities are, clear by 200x.

the problem is a confluence of protests and arson/vandalism happening at the same time but for different reasons, while the cops who should stop the crimes are kept from doing that because they are told they can’t touch protestors.

the levels of white support are lower than they were before demonstrations swept the country last summer” Can you blame them? I dont live in USA and even i was tired watching wtf was going on when you “protested”. :/ It was terrible.

and this is why be like me and never do anything, whatever you do people gonna complain.

Now playing

There are more than a couple of observations that make “Republican” white folks leery of supporting black “causes” or the BLM movement. I could list 10, but here are two.

Woke Whites got Biden and Harris elected to the White House.

There were allies and people wanted to help. And then a bunch of cities were set on fire and we were told police departments didn’t need to exist as crime skyrockets. Sometimes good is good enough and it doesn’t have to be perfect.  But there’s always some myopic noodges who want more and fuck it up for everyone.

You mean burning down our cities and calling us monsters isn’t working? Shocker.

Support for racial justice and equality and disagreeing with critical race theory as a basis for curriculum in schools are not mutually exclusive.

I’ve been saying that the problem with all this is that it is hinged on White people agreeing that they are racist, when they aren’t.  There are racists, but until blacks stop wholesale accusing whites of racism just because they live their lives and work on their own problems we will make no progress.  I’m sorry, but

I cannot imagine why(!) white people in greater numbers are not supporting BLM and like minded organizations? Black people don’t want equality, as is clearly evidenced above, they want Everything. Not to mention the constant barrage of videos online showing BLM threatening innocent civilians with military rifles,

They are called “Lib” they have money and there are a lot of them, but the moment they can live comfy again they will drop your shit.

Any other reasons you can think support for BLM might have fallen? Anything to do with, maybe, y’know...their own actions? Nothing at all?

It’s hard to support THE BLM after reading enough articles of how rich the founder is.
