I had Cingular for two years before it became AT&T and did not have any problems until after the switch. Suddenly, I had terrible coverage in and around my apartment. I conducted an informal test and found that all my friends with AT&T lost signal strength (and most could not make or receive calls) when they came over

Happy Friday to all!

The bit about wedding dresses is true in my experience. Dress shops have terrific sales at this time of year and are usually not crowded, so you get more personal assistance. When my sister had a right-before-Christmas proposal, we hit the sales right after Christmas and ended up buying dresses at David's Bridal. By

I could have used this article two weeks ago when friends began asking me about iPhone apps for gift/card lists. I'm using SimpleNote this year.

@jw: Textfree lets you text friends and family from your own US phone number when you are connected to wifi. My brother used it to text us from coffee shops in South Korea.

@PrairieMoon: I think our attention is the commodity and companies pay for advertising on "free" sites, services, and applications. Actually, they are paying for the chance to catch our attention. It is like an attention lottery.

@zrag: Oooo, Madlibs would be fun. I like this idea!

@wjglenn: I downloaded it last night and let me just say THANK YOU for the suggestion!

@kellanpan: I often like rooibus, so I'll look for the Earl Grey. Is it a certain brand? Holiday Chai does have some caffeine, but Christmas Eve and Pumpkin Spice are two of my decaf favorites from Stash.

@Frisbee: I would be ecstatic if Open Thread ever featured an Ewok photo! Have you seen "Ewok Adventure"? It was one of my favorite movies as a kid!

@freedomweasel: Mmm, I like spicy mustard! What brand are you trying?

I'm taking a 12-13 hour road trip in a Suburban with 7 other people (all family members). Most of us have an iPod Touch or another mp3 player and we're taking the equipment to plug a laptop into the cigarette lighter and sound system for watching movies. What else can I do to make this a fun trip and keep my sanity?

@Hasteur: I'm making scrapbook calendars for many of my relatives (the handmade kind, not the computer-made ones).

Happy Friday to all!

@BeyondtheTech: His face reminds me of a teddy bear or an Ewok. Definitely off-the-charts cute!

@oyumurtaci: Just make sure the toothpaste is white!

I was pleasantly surprised to get the beta invitation for this feature (do the words "beta program" or "beta testing" a tiny adrenaline boost?). I haven't tried it yet because I'm hurrying to finish coursework for the end of the semester. Has anyone had any problems with the calling feature?

@Firesphere: The nurses in my family mix table-grade salt with olive oil to make a paste and then they use it on their hands a couple times a day. It keeps the skin of their hands healthy and uncracked even though they do a lot of handwashing.
