@virgilstar: Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this and it didn't work. Mom used to be able to put her iPhone on the dock and have it play music while she made dinner. Now it inexplicably (to her) doesn't work and she thinks that her daughter (me) and/or "all your geek friends" should be able to fix it. :)

@skittlzncombos: [www.allrecipes.com] is a good resource for this. The advanced search feature helps you find recipes by ingredients that you want (and avoid those you don't want) and gives a suggested "What to drink" with each recipe.

@geiko: I agree that you need to practice with other French speakers (preferably native ones). From what I have learned in the first month of my sociolinguistics class, language maintenance is most successful when you have to use your native language in specific areas of your life. If you are in college, take French

@Bill Clark: I've noticed that these setting do not carry over into the Facebook application for iPhone. Is there any way to do the same thing within the app?

Happy Friday to all! I don't know when I've been so relieved for Friday to arrive but it's been a hectic week at the office.

@iDroid: Ironically, the other five members of my family are all math-and-science people who cannot fathom why language makes more sense to me than numbers. I'm glad to know there's a reason!

I think this series is a terrific idea and will be following it. I have always been decent at math because patterns and rules make sense to me, but numbers seem very abstract to my brain (a point that I am glad the author brought up).

@Andrew Freedman: My mom tells me that, to "force" bulbs, you should keep them cold (fridge is fine) for a week to simulate winter. When you bring them out, by the window is probably fine because outdoor spring nights can be quite cool. If you want to warm it up, you can loosely cover the cup with plastic wrap to

My mother has a 2G iPhone that I jailbroke for her to use as an iPod Touch several months ago. This week, it stopped cooperating with the dock that came with the iPhone. When she docks it, she gets the message "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone. Would you like to turn on Airplane Mode to reduce audio

@lilyHaze: Actually, I have not tried whole-leaf teas in the U.S. but the ones I tried in Kazakstan and China were okay. I will check out the sites you suggested, thanks!

@bornonbord: I've tried some of them and Country Peach was okay but still had a slightly grassy taste.

@UnMicD: That sounds like a terrific idea! It could be a good way for us to show appreciation for quality commenters who haven't been noticed by the administrators yet.

@Nitesh Singh: That's the way I understood Bonsai's statement, too. I did think it was a little odd.

@Nitesh Singh: I wish I were a tea person and I've tried, but I just can't do it. I like one or two herbal teas and a few chai-like ones, but can't make the switch from coffee. I blame college - I was an English major and apparently it's a requirement.

@dreniam: Congratulations on the new home! Have you checked your water heater for leaks and corrosion? I would also check the pipes too, if they are accessible.I consult Apartment Therapy for design and decorating DIYs and This Old House for other home improvement instructions.

@franco1975: My sister and I received our first hamster around the ages of 3 and 5, respectively. We named him Porky because we thought his nose looked like the end of a pig snout. A year or so later, Porky bit me on the finger (which was unusual) and died the next day. It was quite traumatic for me wondering if my

I wasn't dying for one of these when I started hearing the rumors that it was coming. (I'm quite happy with my iPod Touch/HP laptop combo). Now that I found out the name, I doubt I'll ever get one. I have really big word hang-ups sometimes.

@Zkdog: I was envisioning a large project (either size or number of pieces). I would not want to use a small nail polish brush in either of those situations. The cost also depends on how much you use. Nail polish, depending on the brand, is often more expensive than spray paint or sealer. My personal choice would be

@PyroOsik: I love [PaperbackSwap.com] for that! I've gotten rid of gift books, old textbooks and other random books I didn't want to store. When I want to buy a book, I go to PBS first to see if someone's already listed it.

@Zkdog: It may be faster to visit the spray paint aisle of the local hardware store for a can of spray-on, clear sealer.
