I didn’t realize that. I guess I’ve seen so many instances of domestic complaints being answered, and resulting in someone going to jail, that I assumed that was a frequent outcome. I guess the people in my acquaintance have just been luckier than the average.

You mean, it’s a disbelief in the high frequency of rape in general? That’s interesting as well. It’s unbelievable, in my mind, but then again, it’s very rare that I meet a woman who hasn’t experienced rape, attempted rape, or other experiences of gender violence.
