@joecoolinatl: Fix for the slowness. Go to settings,general, home button, spotlight and uncheck everything. Reboot your phone, now 4.0.1 will be much faster on the 3G. It works.

@strideo: I said that same thing, but I bought an iPad anyway because I like shiny new toys. Then I sold my Macbook because I stopped using it completely. I still have a desktop for heavy lifting (video encoding etc) but for most of my couch surfing and email, the iPad is all I need.

When the iPad was announced, almost everyone hated the name, compared it to feminine products etc. In the last few days we've seen the PalmPad, EeePad and LePad....so I guess to other manufacturers, Apple's name wasn't so bad after all.

@MrCheatachu: My wife's refurb Kindle 2 (bought just before the global wireless ones came out) was brand new, didn't look like anyone had even touched it. Well worth it too, she's read 100+ books on it.

That chart looks like it was made after The Phantom Menace since it doesn't have Anakin's AOTC or ROTS sabers or Obi-Wan's ROTS saber, Yoda's is yellow (instead of the green seen in AOTC), Dooku's is missing completely and Mace Windu's is the TPM design not the BMF gold one he has in AOTC and ROTS.

@Phlashman: yeah, I'm hoping iOS4 isn't far off. I'm currently jailbroken and using backgrounder for multitasking, but would really like the new mail features, folders etc on the iPad.

@Ashaleeeee: I left most of the apps I actually use out of folders, and moved the crap and rarely used into folders...much cleaner now.

@Yahweh Took My Prepuce: you can't get tethering without switching to the 2gb plan (unless you jailbreak and use MyWi).

Been using the betas and RC, and it works great even on my little Acer Revo.

I have my laptop set to standby whenever I close the lid, but after 1 hour on standby it goes into hibernate so that I never have to worry about losing data if I don't use it for a few days. It's a good compromise and much faster than the hybrid sleep mode that's built into Vista.
