I came late to the Gawker team of sites (sister sites? superfriends?), and Jezebel is definitely my favorite (especially since my beloved io9 was ruined). The only thing that stops me from commenting more is gray frustration, but it really is a great group of commenters

He really wasn’t. He was somewhat nostalgically idealistic but still oddly practical. Trump would represent the worst of America to him.

He really did immerse himself, and with him, the reader, into his subject matter in a way few did. The Hell’s Angels, the campaign trail, the Derby, he boldly charged into the belly of many a strange beast, with nothing but wits, guile, and a head (and satchel) full of drugs.

I suspect he’d have supported Sanders at first, and begrudgingly, and after writing some hilarious and strikingly insightful pieces about her, would have supported Clinton. It’s easy to view as an idealist, but I think this next bit applies to our current options (with a slight change).

I’d say it is getting there, and that is my point. He didn’t want that life, and choice to write the ending for his own story.
