Absolutely. Tone and expression convey so much and are totally lost. I know there have been multiple times I thought I disagreed with someone, or they thought they did with me, and then some discussion reveals common ground. A little patience and civility goes a long way, in person and even more so online

I didn’t think you were being an ass at all, tone is lost online which can make statements confusing. I’m not comparing the forms of harassment, just saying that retaliating to an accusation of being an ass by being an ass is not a great way to dispute the initial charge

It was coordinated and bragged about on gamergate forums, where they planned and shared the information to carry it out. They frequently discussed these forms of harassment and then they were carried out exactly as discussed

My point was that it is ridiculous to me how some people will respond to an accusation of harassment by harassing the person, or respond to an accusation of belligerence with belligerence, which often proves the point the accuser was making. Hope I cleared that up, sorry if my wording was confusing

I wish the mentality didn’t last past 12, but there is more than enough evidence to show that many never grow out of it
