I’m in the same boat as you (including the size), so I just get fruit juice drinks.  Everyone assumes they are alcoholic.

To really put the duration of this contract into perspective, when it expires, R. Kelly will try to have sex with it.

I hope that this is an isolated incident, and not something that becomes poutine.

Watch the first season of Broadchurch.

I know Boeheim is an irascible jerkbox who routinely undermines his own players as they leave for the NBA, and is not exactly well-liked outside of Syracuse, but I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Obviously, the man who lost his life and his friends and family are even more affected, but it must feel horrible to be

All hail Nymeria, first of her name, Protector of the Realm, Ruler of the Men and Andals, and a VERY GOOD DOGGIE!

JUSTICE FOR SER POUNCE!!!

As a former MLB player once said (if I remember correctly, it was Bill “Spaceman” Lee in his autobiography “The Wrong Stuff”), the players don’t deserve all that money, but the owners don’t deserve it even more.

It isn’t about “rich vs rich,” it’s “generational wealth in the billions” vs first-time rich guys with a limited earning period. It’s about these billions of dollars coming into MLB and being kept by the billionaires instead of distributed to the talent.

maybe they only let the tall ones fuck and the little ones get put in the soup

It’s Wisconsin. That something in the water is beer-cheese soup.

To me The Matrix stands alone, in my head cannon, as a masterpiece. I’ve completely expunged the two inferior sequels.

Will Smith is a fun movie star, but Keanu Reeves’ reaction to the world of the Matrix and the way he played off of Laurence Fishburne really make the movie great.  It’s cool to see Smith have this sort of reaction to turning down the role as opposed to being bitter.

The frightening thing is that the idea that better off people deserve to be paid more because it’s what they’re used to really is how these assholes think.

Yes. It is.

What you do is, you break them down into chops and steaks right when you get home, wrap each in wax paper, and freeze.  Then you can thaw them out as needed

Yeah, there’s a perception that a lot of people who support the rich getting richer don’t understand that they support the rich getting richer. Or, at the very least, know their politics support increasing wage inequality, but still believe they will one day be the 1-percent themselves.

Real talk: I don’t think any of this is coming from the GMs. If they had their way, my guess is each and every one of them would happily take on 10 years of Machado or Harper at this age. It’s sure as hell not going to hurt them, and who even knows who the GM is going to be 9 years from now?

The problem is we’re not talking about all players. We are talking about legitimate superstars, on track for the Hall of Fame, and when we talk about deals like this we can’t really compare their numbers to the Mike Lowell’s of the world. We should look at their contemporaries and see how they held up from ages 26-35

The axis labels are described in the graph’s title. Not ideal, but this is the Deadspin comment section, not a peer-reviewed, scientific journal.
