This is not be an afro, but it’s not a Gibson Girl ’do either. They did not tease their hair; they started out with long hair, and then used fake hair pieces underneath to plump it up further.

the only “hard evidence” they would accept is the man actually admitting to it.
His hat actually fits, unlike hers.
If you look at movie magazines from the 19-teens, they constantly asked the female stars their opinion of women’s suffrage. Some of them (e.g., Pauline Frederick) have fantastic answers. Some of them are just like, “I don’t want to vote, eww, politics!”
This is my family dynamic exactly. I was chalking some of my mom’s papering-over instincts to her generation, but I just looked up your comment history, and I see that your mom must be quite a bit younger than mine. I was hoping this kind of thing was fading out. [Insert sad face]
So, this is darkly funny. I posted a picture supporting CBF on Facebook yesterday, and guess who “liked” it today? The boy who exposed his penis to me in my own house back in about 1980-81, when I was 13 or 14. (My memories of it match CBF’s: incident is crystal-clear, surrounding details aren’t.) Luckily I wasn’t…
Feel free to believe that. But it doesn’t seem like anyone has found proof of it.
I knew a kid who went to Yale, during Kavanaugh’s time there, now that I think about it. His first summer back, he told me some disturbing stories about all the drinking he was doing there. It was only on my drive home that it suddenly occurred to me that I completely missed the subtext: he may have been asking for…
Did you catch this part?
My understanding is Feinstein didn’t turn over the letter sooner because CBF didn’t want to go public. She only gave it to the FBI after it had been leaked to the press, and we don’t know how the leak happened. https://www.vox.com/2018/9/27/17912102/feinstein-christine-blasey-ford-letter-leak
How did this whole thing “totally destroy” his family? I’m sure they’re upset, but are they really “totally destroyed”? Does he see his wife and children as anything but extensions of himself? And he doesn’t look “destroyed” to me anyway. He looks enraged.
Oh, man. I just reread this book and the whole Voldemort thing seems even scarier now than it did during the W years. (How soon we forget.)
I feel like I’m not seeing all the messages pertaining to this, but I’m sure it’s true that PTSD is under-reported in veterans. It’s probably also true that it’s under-reported in rape victims.
I’m really sorry; I hope you’re doing better now. You’re not alone in having felt like it’s something you should be able to just get over. That message is so common. We even have congressmen and judges announcing that these kinds of crimes are not really important.
He plays it on the Dr. Horrible musical commentary soundtrack:
I’m sorry that happened to you; it sounds like it was long-term awful.
Here’s the page on PTSD rates for soldiers—scroll to the section entitled “PTSD and the Military”: https://www.ptsd.va.gov/public/ptsd-overview/basics/how-common-is-ptsd.asp
I think women are taught from an early age that crimes committed against them just aren’t important. And yet:
I am so sorry. I’ve been shocked by reading the #whyIdidntreport stories and seeing how many are from children who were afraid it would lead to a parent being jailed.
Lots of people hung out with Weinstein before his horrific attacks were made public, including people who have now told their stories of how he attacked them. I haven’t heard that Hillary hung out with Polanski; he’s been in exile the entire time she’s been in public life. Supposedly he wrote to ask for her…
