  • Tesla Model 3 - sold in 15.7 days, for $46,982

On paper the Bolt should compete with the Model 3 but in reality one feels more futuristic and drives more demand.

Sounds like a perfect example of engineering process controls if you ask me. Some process control was probably put in place to make sure symbols weren’t forgotten, so the easiest thing to do is include all the symbols on all the models.

Plus, it might streamline some process used to make all dash screens. Something like, “All dash displays need to display the following symbols:...” and then you load it right up and put them in.

This sounds like a good engineering practice. While they might not reuse the entire cluster they may want to reuse just that plastic piece. Adding the unused symbol is likely free/very cheap vs just the cost of engineering hours to add a new configuration of the same thing with it, and maintaining two parts numbers.

1st gear: So, the nation with 60 million people is touting squeaking ahead of the nation with <6 million people? Let me get the trophy shop on the line!

There’s a lot of things I don’t understand in the automotive world, but 8 of the top 10 probably relate to this vehicle.

Yeah, I had high hopes for this class. I just learned of them dropping this rule with the release of the Peugeot. It’s really disappointing considering how this rule was essentially the basis of the Hypercar class at the start.

I didn’t totally grasp how the economy worked in terms of dealers and used cars”

You’re not wrong.  In order to make the class more enticing they dropped the main thing that made it interesting.  LMDh is shaping up really well, but I just can’t bring myself to care about prototypes like I do about something I could theoretically see driving around near me.

Every automaker is a hypocritical sack of shit

This is Shilling, after all. He’s not going to stop being an idiot.

The title says 2050 but the article says 2030.  By 2030 isn’t “weak ass-shit,” it’s realistic. Moreover, it’s completely fair for PHEVs to count towards that goal as they can do 90% of driving in EV mode for most drivers, which gets more out of our limited battery supply.

It doesn’t seem like that’s going to work.

“Almost Half Of All New Cars Sell In Ten Days”

Agreed, equating being vaccinated to end a global pandemic with being murdered?

My company helped to create the VAERS reporting website and all the related data flows.

Neutral: Furthest I’ve driven an EV is around an 18 hole golf course

I grumble as much as anyone about trends in auto design and engineering, but there is absolutely zero doubt that cars today are better in virtually every way than they ever have been.
