Yep, suppliers are still figuring out where they’ve screwed up in their process for some parts. Assembly issues are being figured out at the plant. And occasionally, they’re still fixing a poorly designed component that was fixed “enough” but will roll out the real fix later.

These things are a big problem in Florida. You’re allowed to hunt them year round. It’s pretty obvious where they’ve been though. They tend to tear up their surroundings. I’ve been mountain biking at several parks where the plantlife is wildly torn up due to them

I don’t have the answer to this, I can however say that these aesthetic fasteners are used few and far between, where the uglier ones are used EVERYWHERE across all vehicles, so they have economies of scale on their side. So between the universal use of those fasteners driving down price, I’d say there is a pretty

Anodization is for aluminum, not steel. And aluminum fasteners only work for so long before they break. If steel doesn’t go past a certain stress in it’s life, it will never fail due to fatigue (see fatigue strength). Aluminum on the other hand doesn’t have a fatigue strength and will continue to decline in strength

Honestly, I think it’s because fasteners such as screws are expensive, they they are typically bought as cheaply as possible with anti corrosion coatings (which don’t look as nice, but still better than rust). Depends on the customer. Jeep and Truck owners may like it as part of the character of the vehicle being the utilitarian machine that it is, but someone buying a nice Mercedes may find it cheap looking. I can’t believe I’m defending this stupid point, but it’s not really a waste of resources, it’s a little more up front for development but way less money to pay for all those door handles over the life of a vehicle.

Dodge/Ram/Jeep. FCA has been using off the wall colors for the past decade. You can tell they let their designers have fun and it’s nice to see the bright colors on a road full of white, grey, and black.

Everything looks good. But I feel at some angles the softness of the blue really clashes with the hard straight edges of the body work.
