Bean counter: Financial requirements
As an engineer, I can tell you we make the engineering decisions, not politicians. We make engineering decisions to meet requirements provided to us. Who makes these requirements? The consumers, costs, and the government.
My body is ready for a Datsun revival.
1st Gear:
4th Gear: I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many companies launch their new EV as anything other than a crossover, and then complain about EV’s not selling well.
I’m not going to lie. I love the looks of this thing.
Um.... it does in fact state how much many of the fatalities are in urban and rural areas. I read the report, I’m not sure about you. While yes, the rate at which pedestrian and cyclist deaths are increasing and should be addressed. The number of vehicle related deaths has a larger decrease in fatalities than those…
Steering wheels are for fun.
Bring Buell back to capture a larger market.
The ones with hay and farm animals.
I’d be more concerned with the complexity of both working together. I would think that the ICE would experience much less wear and tear over time just on the simple fact that it’s only being used a fraction of the time compared to a regular ICE vehicle. 10,000 miles on that vehicle may mean only the engine was running…
Hey, that’s a solid solution as that natural gas is most likely going to be producing electricity through gas turbine engines. I’d be curious to see the economics of it all.
I don’t know how people can look at this data and then complain about the newest safety technologies in cars making people worse drivers. The numbers are clearly better than a time when “people were better drivers”. I think they need to accept that people have always been bad drivers and this is a solid way of…
I’m currently on the market for a new car, and as much as I like the idea of an EV, I keep crawling back the the PHEV’s. They’re just the best of both worlds. 80%-90% of my time would most likely be on EV power with just 30-40 miles of range. I don’t have any wait times for charging if I’m low on electricty, I can…
I think that was the plan for selling it, but I think during negotiations GM offered to keep it open for battery production. But now that this is off the table, I think they’re back on track to try to sell it to Workhorse, which definitely doesn’t have the money nor business to own and operate that plant.
I’d also like to make a note here:
I’m assuming they want GM to reallocate the plant for something else. With a future of EV’s coming down the road, it’s inevitable that transmissions will be phased out and subsequently transmission and engine plants. Provided, these could be converted to battery and/or electric motor plants IF the industry doesn’t…
Just a headsup, hydrogen vehicles are EV’s, they just produce their own electricity through a fuel cell rather than a battery cell. They still have electric motors powered by electricity.
TLDR; Looks like a Harley. Rides like a Harley. Priced like a Harley. Customer base continues to die off.
