It didn’t even occur to me that the Japanese Pokemon cartridges would have used the boring grey plastic, the red and blue cartridges (and the later ones) are so iconic in the west.

It’s wild to me that they’re still promoting that. It was only ever a thing on the NES, not the Game Boy, and it was removing and replacing the cartridge that fixed things - blowing was actually potentially harmful.

It’s more of an upscale and port vs a true remaster. Also I’m guessing the original code is not in a good state given the behind the scenes tidbids about the development and/or Kojima may have a tight leesh on altering the game given the disclaimer they’re putting about the content.
