The staggering loss of life in the US, as a result of covid just continues to grow at an alarming rate (over 2,500 fresh deaths, per day) and you just want to go back to the way things were before covid came on the scene? Nah.

With over 2,500 fresh covid deaths in the US each day, you cannot really argue that omicron is less deadly than previous variants when it is that much more contagious. That is nearly a 9/11 catastrophe per day, and you think this is just the downswing?

Not to be grim, but we should collectively be prepared to lose some greats after this ceremony. This non-policy policy is a mess. The hubris of easing restrictions NOW, just because we are sad/stressed/tired of covid is astounding.
