Is this one of the first instances on a network comedy of the main character being openly atheist? I feel like in general that would turn off the mainstream channel surfing viewer and so would be avoided by networks unless it's part of the mystique of a character in a drama (like House for instance).

So as I understand it… Rebecca removed the mat from the top and used the rollers underneath to make hotdogs?

Do you remember what podcast? Her childhood stories are always extremely entertaining. Like the one about farting in the restaurant with her family and about her dad and her doing a bit in an elevator

Someone here last season suggested Heather and Father Brah do webisodes where they get stoned and dole out wisdom

Rebecca is "repeating patterns taught by her parents."

are you thinking suicide attempt? I've been feeling like that's the inevitable bottom to this for Rebecca

even down to his on "ass blood" moment

even down to his own "ass blood" moment

I don't get the lack of love for this ep. I laughed out loud at least once in almost every scene.

I feel like maybe it didn't naturally flow from the emotions in this episode. I'm in a way glad they know how to use it and aren't hard and fast committed to putting it in where it doesn't belong just to follow a pattern.

The Heather moving out was so perfect and unexpected—another person Rebecca has pushed off a ledge. It's like just as you start to feel like maybe you don't understand a character or that they feel like an archetype they fill them right out in the best way. I wonder where Heather will go from here.

Btw, found the link to them talking about the cutting thing:

She would have to part time work. Law school is a cost, and it seemed like currently with the two kids, her and Scott struggle to make ends meet, so they wouldn't be able to sacrifice the extra income.

I have a feeling she may have been raised Catholic (not canon, but they did go to Father Brah for advice—so maybe?) and it seemed like with fairly traditional parents ("you're a breeder not a leader") and as someone with very progressive views who was raised in a traditional Catholic culture both in school and at

Yep, the logic of it in her delusional mind is that if someone loved her than she could love herself and be happy and "complete" (like romantic comedies tend to suggest). She's an obsessive perfectionist who can't figure out how to perfect her own life… because she's so intelligent and capable at everything else in

Makes me wanna sing "Holy fucking shit, just watch this show!"

The way Bloom put it (paraphrasing) she fundamentally does not like who she is as a person. That is the root and her anxiety and nightmares and depression stem from that. Also I believe that when it was a Showtime show they were going to have her be a cutter but either they had to change it or they decided to

Actually, the demo version of Jap Battle by the lyricist Zach Sherwin on Spotify has the dirtier lyrics ("Small dick"), so it was dirtier first. I think that's generally the case for the others, since Rachel also has a filthy mouth.

I think she always intended to keep it as a back-up but couldn't resist some Darryl razzing. They have somewhat of a running joke that Darryl wants to be in Rebecca and Paula's "clique" but they kind of shun him in a playful "eww go away Darryl" kind of way. It's kind of an funny power dynamic, because he's their boss
