Hey! Crow in the mid 90s was fantastic!
Seriously. And who the fuck buys mid-90s grunge-pop-rock on vinyl??? We had them on tapes and then CDs and they sounded perfectly fine.
Great writeup! Loved it throughout.
Bingo. I’m 35 as well and this album isn’t just a “women’s album”. Everybody I know loves it. It’s on sat radio constantly and for good reason. I can’t think of any other 90s album that gets as much air play as JLP does. Amen for that.
Bingo. That’s why 90s pop-rock was so good. Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin etc. It wasn’t a time for eloquent lyrics but about the feeling and that carried into everything about the song. Songs these days are so devoid of life and feeling. And I say that as someone who was 11 in 1995 when JLP came out.
It still is! Every third song on 90s on 9 on SiriusXM is a Jagged Little Pill song. I’m not even joking. I’m a HUGE fan of hers and even I get surprised by how many times that album comes on. And you switch to Pop Rocks and whoops the same song is playing there now.
Ah yes the early 2000s pain of figuring out how many songs would go on the disc before it ran out of room. Nothing worse than burning a disc and seeing “insert a new disc”. Ouch. But hey music back then was worth all the effort, even going back to the early 90s when we would tape music onto blank tapes from the radio…
Fucking rural trash
Karen Carpenter was an angel.
Oh god. Yuck
True but the late 90s was all CD. Infact we were already starting to get into the MP3 era by then. Burning CDs onto hard drives was the cool thing to do.
The first comes close, but none of their other albums come close to Version 2.0
“Version 2.0" by Garbage is Top5 90s albums stuff.
I’m 35 Canadian but I immigrated to Canada in 2000 from India. But I had this album when it came out and loved it before I even knew we were going to move to Canada. It remains one of my all time favs and is a proud Canadian icon for me.
It’s gotta be hugely popular still because every third song on 90s on 9 is from this album and I sign along to the songs every single time.
Brace for impact! So good.
I picture George Conway muttering “one of these days, one of these days” while clenching his fists
And everybody participates in perpetuating that myth. “The Heartland”...”Real America”. Fuck off with that. It’s been more than a century and a half since places like NY, SFO, LA, Chicago have led America’s contributions to society, the world, economy etc.
I just get amazed that the guy we are told is going Save the Christian West(TM) is such an obviously insecure piece of shit.
