I see TVDW makes more of the Twin Peaks comparisons as this first season trudges along, though he's not impressed. But he hits it on the head that Bates Motel lacks dread, which was the ultimate secret ingredient in both Psycho and Twin Peaks.

Hi - I'm giving Season 2 a whirl based on your recommendation. Thanks. :-)
My condolences for your ultimate time wasted in the end. It starts out fantastic but quickly crumbles under its own artistic vision/weight. One of the most infamous failures in modern television history. :-(
Is it just me? I got this "good cop, bad cop" vibe/cliche from the get-go; it seems so obvious even if it doesn't pan out. The plot implies the Sheriff knows a lot more than what he's let on and using the deputy to keep an eye on the Bates.
OK, I'm way new to this series, so please be patient with my comments (as if anyone is here to care) and wish me luck! ;-)
"the elevation of the Monsignor to her new nemesis" - he was always her nemesis, just a secondary one until the others were removed. He knew Dr. Arden was up to no good, he warned him to clean up his mess within the first two episodes. He represented conspiracy theories about the Church's complicit support of Nazi…
Mine does as well! I watched all of Season 3 two weeks ago, Season 1 last week and I'm on track to finish this season before the weekend. This definitely makes up for the pain of those other two seasons. :-P Though I fear they jumped the shark with Season 3…

Would it be selfish if the person was on death row? Hitler, homicidal, yadda, yadda, yadda? Suicide shouldn't be a valid option, but to carte blanche condemn a person without understanding the circumstances is even more selfish - that type of attitude is what can drive someone to suicide.
Watching this *after* my AHS-3 marathon, which was confused and bizarre. This first episode reminds me of the last one from season 3 - overstuffed. But it seems to take itself serious which is promising. Wish me luck! (Stevie Nicks, "Good luck girls!")
I just watched the entire 3rd season in a three day marathon session. *Whew* painful! Lack of continuity and poor editing. I only got through the last 5 episodes by reading the A.V. Club reviews and comment section, which made them way more entertaining. But I digress.

In terms of time cost, junk food is cheaper: quick access, no prep time, reasonable prices even for the poor. Healthy cooking/eating is portrayed as an indulgence for the well off with time and money to burn and the knowledge/equipment or personnel to prepare it. Not true, but how it's perceived.
Obesity often brings a host of health problems, both big and small (e.g. diminished strength, diabetes, pregnancy complications, reduced life expectancy, increased health care costs). Since women carry the next generation into life and are the primary care givers in the very early - and often late - stages of life,…
Game of Thrones typically depicts fat women as non-recurring, poor, dirty, background characters (e.g. whores, lowly common folk) with little or no meaningful lines. But two of the most significant male characters are fat, both in the SOIAF book series and on the show.
