I'd include The Signal from 2007 (NOT the Laurence Fishburne one from last year). One of the most original horror movies I've seen, told in 3 parts by 3 different directors.

This series gets better with each episode. But I agree that Barry is the weakest character. It doesn't help that he's always paired with Karen, the other most 80s looking character.
