I would so set up a smoker and figure out a way to duct the smoke directly into her yard and basically let the thing run 24x7. Then also see if I could find a vegetable farm near by and offer to pick up a few truck loads of their spoiled scrap veggies and make a compost pile right next to her yard for good measure.

My GF can bake fantastically and has about 12 solid meals or so under her belt. She can’t make a decent grilled cheese sandwich or a pancake to save her life. She can’t seem to understand how to control heat in a pan. She is better at the oven side of things where it is just set temp. Set time and done.

I am a decent self taught cook and certainly not a vegetarian. Learning how to not overcook meat and the basics of a simple tasty sauce are really key to having people love your cooking. How to cook meat in a pan, then make a simple pan sauce it very empowering to a novice cook.
