I had to have the South Carolina DMV re-create the truck’s history. I then had to have signed documents from the South Carolina DMV sent to the California DMV stating that the truck did in fact exist. Mind you, this is after owning the truck in California for 15 years legally.

Similar story. I had bought a pickup truck in South Carolina while working there. Brought it back to California no problems registering it. 15 years later California says I brought the truck illegally into the state and I can no longer drive it.
