This exactly. They moved to the Center and it worked, but they forgot to continue mending the garden as it were and now have grown rigid in those beliefs. Ironic that they have somehow tried to dogmatize pragmatism.
For sure, I was aligning more short term but you are correct in that this has been a 40 year plan that has fully culminated in Republican power, thwarted only by a few instances of incredibly Charismatic Democrats taking the white house incrementally.
