Damn. Be sure to buy the novel though! *shameless plug from UK publisher employee*
The Carry On films are very up and down (and there’s reactionary attitudes in some of them which are obviously tiresome) but there are some very funny ones - as a general rule, the historical ones are the best.
No need to watch this when you can just watch Carry On Cleo instead
So fittingly like Terry Gilliam’s career since the late 90s then!
Made a Faustian pact for the cult success of Donnie Darko and the Devil turned up to collect afterwards
So which is worse, this Domino or the Tony Scott Domino?
I’m in the UK, I know it’s been picked up here but could be out any time between this autumn and next spring, The Square didn’t come out until the following March here
Parasite sounds really interesting, hope it comes out here sooner rather than later. Probably just as well for the sake of Film Twitter’s sanity that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood didn’t win a prize.
Blue is the Warmest Colour is amazing (probably my favourite Palme winner of the last 20 years at least) but this new Kechiche film sounds hilariously bad. He’s the European arthouse Richard Kelly!
Hope this does well, though a bit worried they’re releasing it now, feels like a lot of films coming out over the last few weeks, and though this is probably positioned as counter-programming, I worry it might get lost in the crush a bit.
Charles should clearly have ended up with Fiona
Not to mention Stephen Sondheim, the Jewish guy who, you know, wrote the songs for this film in the first place
Metacritic is a more accurate score than Rotten Tomatoes anyway - mind you, I’m betting a Metacritic score of 50 is still pretty high for a film based on a video game
The state of boiling one of the greatest directors ever down to ‘’old rich white sci-fi adventure guy’ (for one, if you think Spielberg has just done sci-fi and adventure...what the hell?)
Probably my favourite musical ever - sure the two leads are bland but the supporting characters! The songs! The music!
Modern Vampires of the City is my favourite album of the decade and I’m very glad to have them back
The MCU has conquered everything, now it’s time for the greatest challenge of all, working with Chevy Chase!
No, the idiot Academy split their votes between Lost in Translation/Girl With a Pearl Earring in 2003 and she didn’t get a nomination for either. Also, Renner has two nominations (The Hurt Locker, The Town)
Damn, I forgot Britta! But then she is the worst.
