I loved this show and miss it. Fox tried to get a similar dynamic with Backstrom last season, and Rainn Wilson was good, but the dialogue wasn't smart enough.

Another 2 years probably helped. But also, if their "popular shows" tables are to be believed, Mindy was always in the top row when it had a new episode, often #1. People watched it on Hulu, not Fox.

Presumably, at least part of the reason is because they haven't filmed the episodes. With Mindy, which is obviously a show they are pushing, it ended in spring, they bought it, and the show just started filming a few weeks ago. If they were going to release 20+ episodes at once, they'd have to wait until 2016 to do…

Agree. Love her. She definitely has a strong personality, but I suspect if she looked more like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who also plays completely obnoxious characters 100% of the time, people would have an easier time with it. Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schumer get similar hate.
