According to the laws of physics the bullet would have the same velocity at the beginning of its arc as it would at the end if they were the same altitude and assuming no aero drag. But in this case that drag force is relatively small as bullets are pretty slippery, meaning this thing was still going quite fast. Also…
I hate when I do that! Especially because it skews the prices on a lot of cars, especially exotics. But what irks me more is when sellers list clutch-based autos as manuals. If your car can change gears with no human intervention then it’s not a manual. Deal with it.
Tom, I think your articles are the most interesting to me out of any on the site. Not because I’m buying a Maserati in the near future, but because I spend more time on Autotrader than I do wrenching or autocrossing. I relate more to your brand of auto enthusiasm than most others, as odd as that may sound.
Check out Ballaban’s LinkedIn, he’s got real credentials for this. You made a baseless guess that because he writes for a car website he knows nothing about the economy. Maybe you’re the one who needs to do more research?
As the goalie for the #1 seeded Coon Goons of the MN Wild Adult Hockey League’s C2 South Division, I feel qualified to answer: Rask had to go deep on his blocker side to cut off Ryan’s shot. Ideally he would have set up in a reverse-VH post lean but things were moving too quickly for that. But when Ryan passes instead…
Since I moved to MN and adopted the Wild as my second team, I’ve grown to hate the Blackhawks even more than before. Seeing them get swept by the 8 seed is so satisfying I’ve completely forgotten about the Wild.
Good write-up. But my point was more to do with Tesla itself rather than EVs. When the 3 releases it will have a lot of momentum from Tesla’s brand image. Compare that to the Bolt which is out today but has demand well short of the 3's.
Tesla is employing a well-proven marketing tactic of starting at the top and moving down. Having exclusivity and prestige creates desire, especially for those who can’t have it. So I think that until there are 100,000 or more 3's out there they can play off of that. What they do after that will depend much more on the…
I won’t. Tesla is the Apple of the automotive space. They may not make the “best” car but they look smooth, simple, and futuristic. They are the hip thing right now and people are ignoring logic and buying with their hearts. But we’ll see how long Tesla can keep it up. The reason no other car maker has that image is…
Video game enthusiasts have pushed to be considered “art” and “sports” for years because of the legitimacy those titles provide. Gaming was, for the majority of its life, a fringe hobby. It was done by kids and nerds rather than parents and professionals. But as those kids grew up and these factions grew it became…
This was an amazing saga to witness. Congrats on living your dream! I’m excited to read more about the Willys and your struggles with basic vehicular operations such as starting, stopping, and turning. That said, I hope that when you repair it in the future you do things a bit more “right” now that you’re not facing a…
I think you’re overplaying this. This is a win-win-win for Indy, McLaren, and Alonso. Indy gets eyeballs from foreign markets, McLaren gets good will and the additional media from bringing Button back, and Alonso gets to have some fun running one of the biggest races in America in (what I’ve been told) is a front…
Legitimately curious, which safety regulations are you talking about? I was under the impression they weren’t illegal, just a really bad idea.
Nitto drag radials rated for 168 HP
He says in the video that this is the 2012 Renault F1 car, but Renault didn’t have a team that year. They sold themselves to Lotus before the 2011 season. After some quick digging it appears to be the 2013 Lotus. I don’t know much about WTF1 or this guy but it’s not a good first impression that he couldn’t get the…
If you read the local article link they do a good job explaining the decision and I actually like the judge after hearing his reasoning. Also keep in mind this is the criminal trial, meaning the focus is on rehabilitation (whether through punishment or treatment). There will likely be a civil trial that will hit this…
I keep it in first in alleyways and crowded lots. It keeps me doing about 5 mph, which is what you should be doing when you have tons of close obstacles being traversed by people staring at their phones. I know I could still crawl around at that speed in second but then it becomes too easy to do 10+ mph.
Absolutely a thing. When I manual I keep it in first when I drive through lots or the alley behind my house and third (usually) on residential streets. But I think the point is less that I’m using the specific gear as a governor but rather that driving a manual keeps me more aware of what the car is doing and thus…
I highly doubt they’re cooking up a mid-engine platform. Toyota is far too conservative to make anything like that happen. I’m siding more with the Evo article you linked to in the thinking that the MR2 spot will be something even smaller and lighter than GT86, likely similar in size to the S-FR concept. If they make…
