Always love when people show their appreciation for Mr. Satan, the Savior of Earth and Champion of the World Martial Arts Tournament.

Brace yourself. There’s a ton

They’re adding a bunch of more story content. I believe a lot of it relates to more backstory for your party members.

I believe each character has a new sidequest in this version. As far as I know, that’s not related to the 2D stuff.

Switch version has the 3ds exclusive content. I don’t know the full details but it includes going into areas or dimensions based on other DQ games in the series or something.

I get wanting the game to be harder. But I’m more interested in the new content and don’t want to make my second playthrough longer.

Yeah, everyone else was kind of bland, but Sazh really was a highlight!

13 is such a weird game. The first part is so bad, so linear. Once you are planet side, the game is so much better. The combat can be fun, if not a little tedious. 13-2 is better IMO, and I skipped 13-3, but heard that it has it’s own fun parts too.

Omg get this for her! Nuts I am going to go watch the flyover ending. I will get this too. I still have on cd the old one. I couldn’t give it up.

That’s a very interesting point. VIII goes into so much detail when it comes to stats and leveling. The GF system is ALMOST like a job system in that you can completely change up a character by which ones they have equipped (Selphie was my physical powerhouse, Zell was my Monk with Revive and Restore on him). I loved

If she’s like me, it’s more about Riona, Laguna and Raine. The real best characters in the game. Squall ok, but Laguna..  I was just a kid when I played this. I still get sniffy.. at the end flyover.

I liked them for being different, but yeah, that is what most people say when they complain about 8.

Try to go in expecting nothing. idk if you’re a fan of the other Final Fantasy games, but it’s pretty different from them in how you power up your characters, and the narrative itself gets pretty bonkers. It’s definitely a polarizing game; either you’ll hate it or enjoy it, but I rarely see people say VIII was just

I can understand not liking FFVIII, it’s definitely an acquired taste that I have to be in the right mood for, but FFIX is a god damned masterpiece (and I love FFX, too).

Agreed! I loved experimenting with what magic would work better junctioned to different stats. I spent hours on it as a kid. Ya know, before you could just look up “best magic to use in FFVIII” or something.

... and here I thought most of the FF games sucked for a while afterwards because of the knee jerk reaction from VIII’s reception. It wasn't until XII that Square was able to put halfway decent group of characters again IMO, of course.

Phew I hated that ff so much, for me, it’s beginning of the end for the series, story is slow and bland. And by that time, I was so bored with the technology used (little 3d characters running on precalculated 3d images with all their glorious pixels and invisible dead ends.), that's only my opinion. but with viii, ff

The magic system was cool cuz it made you use a lot of different spells instead of one fallback one. As long as you draw on alot enemies and kept ur stock pile of spells it is possible to use magic effectively and have a focus on it. It just takes more planning

FFVIII came out at JUST the right time for me, so I have a lot of fond memories of the game. It took a more realistic lookish to characters, the story is a lot of tropes, but again, fun. Many people have an issue with the magic system, but as long as you are not into min/maxing you’ll be fine.
