Look into Camelot331 the youtuber.  He has been reporting on this madness as well along with many other past transgressions from Gamestop as well.  That company is disgusting in the shit they do.

If I saw this first I wouldn’t have mentioned it as well.  Good to know people saw this fucking amazing movie as well.  I remember just being like O_O as a kid playing sonic jam on saturn and seeing the ad in the game for it.  Finally got it a long while back and watch it at least once a year.

Maybe it was a reference to the Old Man Owl from the old Sonic the Hedgehog movie cartoon.  Other than that it is probably just part of the setup for the next movie all things considered at the extra scene at the end.
