I agree with you. A massive reduction in the roster in order to build up more personality for characters so you care about them would have made Chrono Cross an amazing game. Instead the route of gutting characters was made and now Magus is Guile. Made me sad to find that out.

Actually I find Chrono Trigger to be one of the few RPG’s I still play at least once every year or two using the DS version. Among the others for me are FF4, Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2. Has nothing to do with Rose tinted glasses there. It is a legitimately great game.

Yea, I have a daughter now and I want to try and make sure she never has to feel that way, but, that she doesn’t take it for granted either.

I hate people referring to it as Dark Souls like that was the hardest and the original in the souls series. That was Demons Souls and it was the most punishing of all of them. It literally wanted to kill you nonstop so if you thought to rush through the game it would remind you of who held the bat.

If you want to be spoon fed story go play an RPG. The souls games are made that way for a reason. It is an action-exploration game.

Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden each had like 4-5 characters worth knowing the story of total. The Souls games generally have a ton of history and narrative if you are willing to actively embrace the world. I think you must have been playing a different game.

You not being available to invade does affect others. If there is no one to invade, nobody will invade which will eventually mean no random PvP.

Honestly you can play the games solo as that is how it is truly meant to be played or risk an invasion while you have 1-2 allys on your side to jump some guy.
