@Yogs: I've never been to Mardi Gras partly because I don't want to be in a crazy drunken crowd BUT this year I really wanted to go but couldn't (I live in Boston). At least I'm going in May to NoLa and to Jazzfest.

@Norton: Awesome story. This is why I love Jazz Fest - many locals attend and I drink throughout the day like plenty of attendees but I've never seen anyone get too rowdy, ill mannered or fall down drunk there once. Even at Voodoo with all the kids I've never seen anyone (except the lead singer of The Pogues) get fall

@Yogs: As a new englander who spends about a month or so every year in New Orleans (and loves the city with an intense passion) I want you to know I have never peed on a street or any of that and I am very well behaved in and out of the quarter. And my husband doesn't drink alcohol and loves New Orleans, too.

@ButtonLoon: Sounds lovely and I'm planning on traveling to Ireland (primarily Dublin) within the year. There are so many wonderful cultural festivals going on all year long there! And I'm also going to visit Buncrana, Country Donegal where my ancestors are from and County Cork where my husband's are from. Have a

I will always love Jean Rhys for writing a, dare I say, literary prequel to Jane Eyre in her moving, brilliant, "pre-feminist" "answer" to Jane Eyre, the amazing Wide Sargasso Sea. The story of the Mad Woman In The Attic and of the true story of Rochester's Crap Marriage With An English Dude

@theeyecollector: Yes yes yes I've been posting all over the place on Jane Eyre new film discussions READ RHYS' pre-feminist, amazing "answer" to this work!

@Deckard: we shall not crush you good sir although that may be because not everyone has figured out the whole ca.jezebel. com thing yet ;)

Well I think it was a situation where she felt vulnerable and then in turn crappy overhearing his criticism. But it also sounds like he wasn't into making her feel bad, he was pompous, but I don't think he was cruel at all. And there is a difference. I think she sounds like a talented gal who may have a little

I really really really would rather be in new orleans this week! Waaaaah! But thanks for the photo!

@ButtonLoon: Oh someone did that, it's called Glorious 39. But I'll watch yours, too.
